A marvelous day at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest/Grand Hotel Royal

hey...

I know I was supposed to write about it right away, but...OK I have no actual reasons to cover up my lazy ass for not writing this earlier, but if I want to be honest, it is part of the truth that I did spend an awful lot of time with editing the pictures.

And when I say edit, I mean clicking on the auto-adjust button multiplied by the number of photos I took. So yeah , does not really explain why it took so long.

Also have to tell you that most of my photos came out SHIT so I am also going to cheat and use other sources as well.(Or will I?)

Te builidng itself is quite old. The original opening of the hotel dates back to the Millenium (1896) still under the name Grand Hotel Royal. It closed finally in 1991 (my birth year how sad) and waited to be bought by Corinthia in 1999.

Luckily the renovation didn't take too long and in 2002 the hotel opened up again to the public under the new name, now belonging to the company Corinthia.
Currently there are 440 rooms opposed to the old number of 350, but this number already includes the apartements as well.(these are additions to the original number of rooms and introduced to the general public in year 2003)

Upon arrival we received a package with a booklet about the history of Corinthia, and then another one detailing the long history of the previous Grand Hotel Royal. After we got our little group ready to leave the main lobby with a short history lesson, our first stop was the Royal Spa.

The whole spa department was spacious and exactly what you would expect from a place like this. A big swimming pool and two jacuzzis and on the atrium level some massage and treatment rooms.I couldn't stop staring. Fortunately I also got some great ideas for upcoming birthdays, and stuff for family and friends.  After that we headed towards the Ambassador Suite that is named after our dear composer Ferenc Liszt. It was huge. 240 squaremeter HUGE, i mean. As we were trying to find our way in the labyrinth of the corridors we got the chance to see a regular room as well. I wouldn't say it was any less attractive than the presidential suite, I mean in a lot of hotels there is a huge difference the luxury of a suite and a regular room, so I was pleasantly surprised that a regular room was just as enjoyable in terms of atmosphere as a big ass suite. Another aspect is that I don't have 5000 euros to spend a night in the ambassador suite.

I am kind of tired so let's just do this short photocaptioning 'cause we all know we love to caption our photos OH YES I DO.

From the highest point, still trembling from the memory, we crossed a glass bridge to get from builing A to B
